Return to running events

I am sooooo excited! On Sunday, I am due to run my first event in ages and ages (i.e. pre lockdown); so far Lowther Trail race is on!! A category CL, I am a bit nervous as I am very much out of hill shape; since going back to normal working patterns I am actually more time poor than during the peak of Covid, which is weird for a healthcare professional!

The event is able to run as it has made significant changes to its usual format. To start with, there is no mass start but instead 5 minute slots where six people go off. There is also a edict that we aren't to hang around the start/ finish, and have to wear facemasks as registration and coming in to the finish tent. None the less, its still a lovely run, and being slow I will get chance to see lots of people running (read, overtaking) passed me. There is also no water station, which is fine as I can carry some. Lots of people don't need water of 13 miles, but I like something to sip.

At the moment the weather is dry, a far cry form last year, but all that could change. It is the edge of the Lakes afterall.

Race report to follow!
